In final month, Cards have plenty of rare milestones to accomplish

With one month left to go in the 2015 regular season, the St. Louis Cardinals are chasing history in more ways than just team win total.

As the Cards look to lock up another NL Central title and head to the postseason for a fifth consecutive season, MLB.com took a look at other team milestones that are attainable, marks that could be considered once-in-a-career type opportunities.

Win total: The Cards need to go 21-8 the rest of the way to win a club-record 107 games. The 1942 team holds the record of 106 games (done in 156 games). The 1943, 44 and 2004 teams all won 105.

Home wins: St. Louis has 48 wins at Busch Stadium so far. With 13 games to go, the club has a chance to reach to meet or surpass the 58 games won in 1943 and the 60 games won in 1942. The 2013 team under manager Mike Matheny won 54.

ERA: The Cards boast a big-league best 2.67 team ERA, the lowest since the banner year of 1968. Since then only three teams have finished with a lower team ERA than the Cards have right now, led by the 1972 Orioles at 2.53.

Postseason berths: Before last season's trip to the postseason the Cards had never strung together four consecutive seasons of playoff baseball. This year will make it five straight. They're also trying to become the first team since the Braves (1995-99) to advance to the League Championship Series in five straight seasons.
