Ichiro Suzuki plans to play 'in 2016 and beyond'

Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, who finished the 2014 season needing 65 hits to reach 3,000, will continue his career in 2016, according to FS1 Baseball Insider Jon Paul Morosi.

Suzuki's agent, John Boggs, told Morosi that the soon-to-be 42-year-old "is definitely planning to play in 2016 and beyond."

Suzuki signed a one-year contract with the Marlins last January and hit a career-low .229 in 398 at-bats. He added 11 stolen bases to his one home run and 21 RBI. Suzuki, a 10-time all-star, will be a free agent again this offseason.
