Hudson placed on disabled list by Twins

Orlando Hudson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Minnesota Twins, who wanted to give their second baseman sufficient time to recover from a strained muscle in his right ribcage.

Hudson's injury occurred during a third-inning swing in Friday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The Twins rested him Saturday in hopes he would recover quickly, but he couldn't play Sunday either and was put on the DL after Minnesota's 10-4 win.

The Twins filled out the roster by recalling catcher Jose Morales from Triple-A Rochester. The move gives the Twins three catchers, along with Joe Mauer and Drew Butera.

Morales was batting .280 with two homers and 24 RBIs through Saturday.
