Hanley Ramirez puts on a bizarre show for his critics following homer

Published Jun. 23, 2016 8:28 a.m. ET

After starting the year red hot, the Boston Red Sox have faltered a bit of late. They've lost seven of their last 10 and the offense hasn't been as high-powered as it was to begin the season. Hanley Ramirez has played a role in that, hitting just .181 in June, lowering his average from .305 to .263 this month.

Additionally, his lack of power has been concerning as he's hit just two home runs since the end of May. He attempted to curb that trend on Wednesday night by changing his batting stance a bit, and it seemed to have worked temporarily, at least.

After being dropped to seventh in the order Wednesday, he clubbed a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then proceeded to put on a show for his critics by staring into the camera.

He held up a fake microphone and flexed, thus signifying that he still has power.

He then continued to do hand motions implying his doubters have been chirping, followed by a showing of his adjusted stance.

Who knows what Ramirez was thinking with this charade, but it was entertaining at the very least. Now he just needs to back it up because a batting average below the Mendoza line for the month of June isn't going to cut it.
