Giants call up McGehee who has positive outlook on minors stint
Casey McGehee was back with the Giants over the weekend after being recalled from Triple A. The third baseman had a positive outlook on his stint in the minors. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, McGehee said, “Looking back on it, it’s probably the best thing I could have done. My mind-set and my mood are better.”
McGehee batted .357 with two home runs in 10 games with the Sacramento River Cats. Although Giants manager Bruce Bochy had indicated that McGehee would be getting a start in Philadelphia over the weekend, the veteran made his sole appearance as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of Friday night’s game. He struck out.
Per CSN Bay Area, Bochy explained on Sunday why he had Matt Duffy start all three games:
“The kid is playing well and I think Casey understands that. Call me superstitious, too. We've had a couple of good games here and I'm going with the same soup.”
