Dodgers' Zack Greinke chosen to start All-Star Game
National League manager Bruce Bochy named Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke as the starting pitcher for the NL in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. He enters the game with a 1.39 ERA, the lowest ERA for a starting pitcher at the All-Star break since 1968 -- the Year of the Pitcher. He also enters the game with a 35 2/3 scoreless innings streak.
This is the third time Greinke has been an All-Star, his second as a Dodger and his first time starting. The last Dodger pitcher to start the game was Brad Penny in 2006. Per ESPN, Bochy said about the decision to start Greinke:
"We had some great starters who are candidates, but the numbers he's putting up are really, really unbelievable.”
