Dodgers reliever Rodriguez has setback with elbow injury

MIAMI (AP) Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Paco Rodriguez has had a setback in his recovery from elbow tendinitis and needs surgery that will sideline him for an additional eight to 10 weeks.

Rodriguez made four rehab appearances with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga and Triple-A Oklahoma City with hopes of returning to the big league club on Monday before the new trouble.

''Disappointing for us and for him obviously,'' Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said before Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. ''He actually threw the ball success-wise in his rehab really well, but it sounded like just from having the conversations with Stan (Conte) that it was kind of back to those same feelings of not really being able to let it go, which led him to kind of just to be honest with Stan and I about how he was feeling.''

Rodriguez, who is 0-0 with a 2.61 ERA in 18 appearances, has been out since May 29.
