The Dodgers have activated catcher A.J. Ellis off of the disabled list and optioned Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City, the team announced Tuesday.

Ellis, who is working his way back from a knee injury, had been on the DL since July 19.

Relegated to backup duty when the Dodgers picked up Yasmani Grandal in the offseason, Ellis has struggled most of the year. However, in the 12 games before his injury, Ellis But Ellis posted a .375/.487/.625 slash line.
