Dodgers' Greinke strikes out most batters in All-Star Game since Martinez in '99

Published Jul. 14, 2015 11:28 p.m. ET

After 35 2/3 scoreless innings, Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke gave up a run. It won’t count against his streak though as it came in the All-Star Game. He gave up a leadoff home run to the reigning AL MVP -- the Angels’ Mike Trout. Then he settled into form not giving up another run through in the two innings that he pitched.

Among the next six outs were four strikeouts. The four K’s were the most by any pitcher in the All-Star Game since Pedro Martinez’s legendary performance in 1999 in which he struck out five. Greinke struck out Albert Pujols, Nelson Cruz, Adam Jones and Salvador Perez.
