Dee Gordon thought Marlins' managerial choice was a joke at first

Fans apparently weren't the only ones who were puzzled by the Miami Marlins appointing general manager Dan Jennings to serve as the team's manager after they fired Mike Redmond less than two months into the 2015 season.

Joining ESPN's "Sports Center" on Thursday, Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon recalled his initial reaction to the managerial news, which wasn't very dissimilar from the masses.

"When I got word of it, I was surprised. [Giancarlo] Stanton actually called me and told me, and I thought he was playing," Gordon admits, "but he was serious."

As two of the Marlins' most prolific players, Gordon recalls that he and Stanton then vowed to work as hard as they could for their new manager.
