Colorado Rockies Go Unranked in FanSided's Fandom 250
FanSided, the parent company of Rox Pile, has officially released its inaugural Fandom 250 rankings. Unfortunately, the Colorado Rockies didn’t make the top 250.
The Fandom 250 rankings incorporate a unique ranking system that breaks through pop culture barriers and includes sports, entertainment (including movies, television shows, and actors), politics and politicians, brands, and popular individuals in America and around the world. It’s a world where Garth Brooks, Chanel, Tesla and The Hunger Games all compete for the same top billing as the Boston Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, New York Knicks … and Colorado Rockies.
So which baseball teams did make the Fandom 250 list?
Chicago Cubs at No. 1
New York Yankees at No. 25
Boston Red Sox at No. 29
St. Louis Cardinals at No. 111
New York Mets at No. 129
Los Angeles Dodgers at No. 182
Baltimore Orioles at No. 191
Kansas City Royals at No. 192
Cleveland Indians at No. 198
San Francisco Giants at No. 226

While it may not be a complete surprise to not see the Rockies on the list, it’s another reminder that Colorado needs to regain its home-field advantage sooner than later. We discussed earlier this year if Denver was indeed a baseball town. We’ve also talked about how there are plenty of times the fans of opposing teams outnumber Rockies fans in LoDo. Some of those fans are loud and strong from two division rivals that made the Fandom 250 in the Dodgers and Giants.
Colorado fans are hungry for a winner and many believe that 2017 will be the year that the Rockies once again make the postseason. Some are anxious to see a sign of that from this year’s winter meetings.
Are the @Rockies gonna make any moves to help the bullpen? Or are you just gonna make us Rockies fans suffer another year?#MLBWinterMeetings

But hey, let’s be honest, the Fandom 250 rankings aren’t just about winning. If they were, how could the Cubs hold down the top spot and the Cleveland Browns finish in the 173rd spot? It’s about fanbases who are passionate about their teams (or brands) and support them day in and day out.
Does that description match Colorado’s fan base? Should they be in the top 250? Let us know your thoughts below.
