Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals has been taken out of the game after getting hit by a pitch on his left elbow.

Holliday was plunked by Christian Garcia of the Washington Nationals with one out in the sixth inning Friday night. The slugger trotted to first and then walked off the field with a trainer, heading toward the clubhouse.

Shane Robinson ran for Holliday and replaced him in left field in the seventh with the Cardinals leading 9-1.
