Cardinals' Holliday comes off DL

Published Jul. 27, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and is starting against the Braves on Saturday.

Holliday had been out since July 12 with a strained right hamstring.

With Holliday's return, Allen Craig is starting at first base. Craig played left field with Matt Adams at first base during Holliday's absence. Adams is not starting on Saturday.

The Cardinals optioned outfielder-first baseman Brock Peterson to Triple-A Memphis to clear a roster spot for Holliday.
