Braves' Hanson to miss start against Texas

The Braves scratched Tommy Hanson from his scheduled start on Friday against Texas due to tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Right-hander Randall Delgado will be recalled from Double-A Mississippi to make his major league debut against the Rangers. The 21-year-old Delgado, ranked by Baseball America as the Braves' third-best prospect, is 4-4 with a 3.54 ERA at Mississippi.

He has never pitched about Double-A.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said Thursday that Delgado was the choice to fill in for Hanson because he's on schedule to pitch.

The Braves will make a roster move Friday to clear a spot for Delgado. Wren said no decision has been made on possibly placing Hanson on the disabled list.

Hanson, a right-hander, has been one of the Braves' top starters. He is 8-4 and ranks second in the NL with a 2.48 ERA, trailing only teammate Jair Jurrjens' 2.13 mark.

The Braves have recalled two pitchers from Triple-A Gwinnett this season - left-hander Mike Minor, who started on Thursday night against the New York Mets, and right-hander Julio Teheran.

Right-hander Brandon Beachy, on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, made the first of his scheduled two rehab starts for Gwinnett on Thursday night. If he suffers no setback, Beachy could return to the Braves' rotation by the end of the month.
