The Royals purchased Getz's contract from Triple-A Buffalo before Tuesday night's game.

The Blue Jays optioned Ryan Goins to Buffalo. He started 11 games at second base and eight games at shortstop for the Blue Jays, but hit only .150 with one RBI in 60 at-bats.
