Blue Jays beer-throwing fan charged with mischief

A man suspected of throwing a beer at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim during the seventh inning of the American League wild-card game in Toronto was charged with mischief.

Ken Pagan, a 41-year-old copy editor for Postmedia, turned himself in on Thursday after Toronto police circulated a photo of him. He was later released and is due back in court on Nov. 24.

Pagan is banned from attending games at the Rogers Centre and can't consume alcoholic beverages.

"He was very anxious to cooperate with police," Pagan's attorney Tyler Smith told USA Today. "He was very concerned. He's never been in a situation like this. He's never been in trouble before."

Pagan hinted in an interview with The Toronto Sun on that authorities may have identified the wrong person.

“I was drinking out of a cup,” said Pagan. “I’d love to tell you what happened and my story ... but I can’t say anything.”

Kim was in the process of catching a fly ball in the seventh inning when a beer can was thrown onto the outfield grass, nearly hitting Kim.

Toronto eventually won the game 5-2 on a three-run walk-off home from Edwin Encarnacion in the 11th inning.
