Bag of signed Jose Fernandez baseballs washes ashore in Miami


A bag full of signed baseballs by Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez mysteriously washed ashore on Miami Beach, nearly 20 blocks north of a boat crash, which claimed the life of Fernandez and two others last weekend.
Four signed baseballs were turned into to a lifeguard on Monday, Ocean Rescue Division Chief Vincent Canosa told WSVN-TV, days after Fernandez was killed at age 24. Fernandez's friends Emilio Macias and Eduardo Rivero were also killed in the crash.
According to WSVN-TV, Fernandez's checkbook was also found.

The Marlins honored Fernandez on Monday night, with each player were Fernandez's No. 16.
Marlins leadoff hitter Dee Gordon hit his first home run of the season in the top of the first, leading Miami to a 7–3 victory over the New York Mets, who are in the thick of the National League Wild Card race.
