As the playing career of 41-year-old Alex Rodriguez seems to be over, the much maligned figure is back in the Fox studios.

Following the high profile fallout between Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees, the 14-time All-Star and three-time AL MVP is heading back to Fox as an analyst for the MLB playoffs.

This is not unfamiliar territory for A-Rod.

Just last year, A-Rod was apart of the Fox staff during the playoffs once the Yankees were eliminated in the wildcard game against the Houston Astros.

During a telephone interview, Rodriguez spoke on the opportunity to return.

“I had a really good time last year, and I’d be watching every game anyway,” Rodriguez stressed. “I love the game, and I see it as my responsibility to convey what I am seeing in the simplest way.”

Rodriguez received tons of positive feedback for the job he did last year with Fox. He provided insightful analysis and offered a different outlook on the game.

It would’ve been easy for A-Rod to just disappear into the sunset after baseball, especially considering all of the negative backlash he received due to his involvement with performance enhancing drugs, but that’s just not in his character.

After a dramatic falloff in production, the Yankees decided to release A-Rod back in mid-August, but he will still be involved within the organization as a special advisor and instructor.

“Anytime I have an assignment involving baseball, I’m happy,” he said. “Advising some of these young players, not only on what happens between the lines but in understanding that there’s life beyond baseball and how do you prepare for retirement. As mentors, it’s our responsibility to give them feedback.”

A-Rod still hasn’t closed the door on possible returning to the game, but something tells me he’s at peace right now.
