Ahoy, Pittsburgh! New Pirates reliever greets city in pirate costume
The Pittsburgh Pirates, locked in a three-team battle in the NL Central and without their injured MVP, bolstered their bullpen by acquiring John Axford from the Cleveland Indians via a waiver claim on Thursday, a source told FOX Sports MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal.
Pittsburgh, who earlier this week placed reigning NL MVP Andrew McCutchen on the 15-day DL with a broken rib, is in third place in the NL Central, 2½ games behind division-leading Milwaukee and a half-game behind St. Louis.
In Axford, the Pirates are getting a 31-year-old right-hander who tied for the NL lead in saves in 2011 with 46 while pitching in Milwaukee.
They're also getting a guy with quite the sense of humor.

And a sense of sincerity.
Thank you @Indians for the experience & opportunity, the city of Cleveland for taking me in, & the fans for making me feel welcome...
