Addison Russell tied a World Series record in his incredible Game 6
Add Addison Russell's name to the World Series history books.
The Cubs shortstop racked up six RBIs in Tuesday's Game 6, tying a single-game record for baseball's championship series along with three others. The Cardinals' Albert Pujols had six RBIs in Game 3 of the 2011 World Series, the Yankees' Hideki Matsui pulled it off in Game 6 in 2009, and the Yankees' Bobby Richardson also pulled it off in Game 3 in 1960.
On his first at-bat, he hit what should have been an inning-ending fly ball to right-center, but some disastrous miscommunication in the Indians outfield turned it into a two-RBI double:
His next at-bat was the big one, a third-inning grand slam rocket to center:
Russell had golden opportunities to add to it, too. He struck out looking with two on base in his third at-bat and grounded into a fielder's choice with two men on in his fourth. He had one last crack with a runner on first in the ninth but grounded into another inning-ending fielder's choice.
Thanks largely to his efforts, the Cubs won 9-3 to force a Game 7 Wednesday, with first pitch just after 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
