A.J. Griffin experiences minor setback in rehab work

The Oakland Athletics activated right-hander A.J. Griffin from the disabled list less than two weeks ago in hopes that he'd be able to rejoin the pitching staff sometime in early July.
That could still happen, though Griffin - who is nearly returned from a lengthy time off recovering from 2014 Tommy John surgery - has now experienced something of a setback with Triple-A Nashville, where he's been since being activated on June 13.
According to Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle, Griffin has been placed on the minor-league D.L. with a 'right shoulder strain', though Slusser notes it is not in the same area of his arm that caused Griffin to miss some of his rehab time earlier this year. In fact, Slusser reported, he could resume throwing later this week.
If Griffin is able to recover from this new issue and continue rehabbing without incurring any more setbacks, he could presumably rejoin the A's sometime in the next month - though it's unclear at the moment how Oakland would use him, considering their starting rotation is pretty full (and effective) right now.
