Rory McIlroy accidentally makes winding putt during U.S. Open practice round

Published Jun. 15, 2016 2:50 p.m. ET

We're just mere hours away from the start of the U.S. Open at Oakmont, so players are finishing up their final practice rounds and tweaking before getting underway on Thursday. Bubba Watson is draining (illegal) trick shots out of the absurdly thick rough, and Rory McIlroy is using the undulations of the greens to sink accidental putts.

That's what he did on Wednesday, putting his ball up a hill, all the way back down, ricocheting off a fake hole, and into another cup. All he could do was throw his hand up in disbelief, because that's just ridiculous.

McIlroy is looking to win his second career U.S. Open title this week and will tee off at 8:24 a.m. ET.
