Phil Mickelson was an inch away from a 140-yard eagle

Phil Mickelson didn't get to start his first round at Oakmont Thursday thanks to the torrential downpours that delayed play, but he cmame out firing Friday morning. Mickelson started his round at the 10th hole and carded an immediate bogey, but almost jumped into red figures at the par-4 11th with a hole-out from 140 yards.

The ball was traveling directly toward the pin after its first bounce, but just barely strayed off-line on the second bounce and trickled past the edge.
