Freshmen ready to make a difference in Athens?

The 2015 recruiting class was a loaded one for Georgia. With the sixth-ranked class in the country according to 247 Sports, one that went 29 players deep, there will be no shortage of young talent for coach Mark Richt and his staff, and prominent SEC website Saturday Down South is buying into the hype for a couple of Bulldogs.

Five-star athlete/wide-receiver Terry Godwin, a 6-foot, 170-pound speedster, is one player to keep an eye on. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has already mentioned playing Godwin in the slot this year, and with his athletic ability -- Godwin was drafted by the Braves this week in the 33rd round of the MLB draft -- he could easily raise some eyebrows as a freshman playmaker in the SEC, which is why Saturday Down South has him listed as a "buy" in its breakdown of which freshmen will be worth the hype.

And then there's Trent Thompson, a 6-foot-3, 313-pound behemoth of a defensive lineman who was the top-ranked player in the nation in 247's final recruiting rankings. Big things are being expected of the crown jewel in Georgia's 20155 class, and Saturday Down South is buying here as well. Noted for his explosive first step and power, Thompson could be a major force on the line for a defense that is loaded in the back seven but could use some help up front this season.
