Wolfsburg wrap up Fagner deal

Fagner has penned a contract with Wolfsburg which will run until

June 2016. Reports in Germany suggest the 23-year-old arrives in a

?2.5million deal from Vasco de Gama. Fagner has prior experience of

life in European football from a short spell at Dutch side PSV

Eindhoven, but will be hoping to fare considerably better second

time around. “It has been pretty obvious that we were out to clinch

one more player for this role on the pitch,” Wolfsburg manager

Felix Magath told the club’s official website. “Fagner is an

attacking right-sided full-back. He plays the role in a way that I

like best.” Fagner added: “I am delighted to be at Wolfsburg and to

have the chance to perform in a competition of the quality of the

Bundesliga. “My goal is to be a regular in the line-up of this club

and to help them achieve the best position possible in the league.”

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen have sought distance themselves from

reports suggesting they are planning a raid for Wolfsburg striker

Lakic. The Croatia international ended last season on loan at

Hoffenheim, but he is back with his parent employers and hoping to

force his way back into first-team contention. “We had looked into

the case of Srdan Lakic, but that is all,” Bremen’s general manager

Klaus Allofs told Kicker-Sportmagazin. “A transfer of Srdan Lakic

is not an option at this point in time.”
