Boyd bags brace as Gers hit summit

Boyd had the chance to claim his second of the day when he ran onto a lovely pass from Miller and found himself one on one with Robert Olejnik but it was the
Lee McCulloch then came close with an angled drive which whistled across the face of goal and wide, before Novo drew a decent save from Olejnik as the Scottish champions cranked up the pressure.
Instead, it was
Bougherra then attempted to turn provider for Boyd again. The striker collected on his chest but failed to control properly and the danger was eventually cleared by Brian McLean before Boyd could pull the trigger.
Any hopes Boyd had of claiming his first hat-track of the season were dashed when he was replaced by Kyle Lafferty with 20 minutes to go and he would have been even more disappointed at being hooked when
Beasley was brought down in the box by Darren Barr with 72 minutes on the clock and – with Boyd now on the bench – the honours went to Miller instead, who confidently dispatched into the back of the net from 12 yards.
Lafferty could then have put the result beyond all doubt only for his point-blank header to be blocked by Olejnik but
