Stewart replaces Hutchens; promotes Borland

Tony Stewart on Monday released Bobby Hutchens as director of

competition at Stewart-Haas Racing.

Stewart promoted Matt Borland to vice president of competition.

Borland has been with Stewart-Haas Racing since its inception as

technical director. The move is immediate. .

Hutchens held his job since 2009. He left his longtime

management role with Richard Childress Racing to join Stewart’s

organization.

”Bobby played an integral part in building Stewart-Haas Racing

into a team that wins races and contends for championships,”

Stewart said in a statement. ”We’re grateful for all his hard work

and dedication, and I am personally appreciative for the

responsibilities he took on Friday through Sunday that allowed me

to be just a driver. We wish him nothing but the best.”

Stewart-Haas Racing has struggled lately. Stewart and Ryan

Newman are both in the top 10 in the points standings, but neither

driver have a win.

Stewart has only one top-five finish all season. Newman has one

finish better than 14th since Martinsville in early April.
