Marco Andretti grateful dad took show role

IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti does not regret pulling out of the ”Celebrity Apprentice” following the death of Dan Wheldon last October.

Andretti was scheduled to begin shooting the NBC hit after the Oct. 16 season finale race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race was canceled following the early 15-car accident that killed Wheldon.

Andretti says his maternal grandfather had also died that week, and he was not emotionally able to fulfill his commitment. He was replaced on the show by his father, Michael Andretti, who joined the cast midway through the first episode.

Michael Andretti has made it through the first three weeks of Donald Trump’s television show, and his son is grateful his father took over the commitment.
