Louisiana vs. Charlotte - News - September 26, 2026

Shelton Sampson Jr. - DNP vs. Charlotte Sampson (knee) was held out of Saturday's matchup against Charlotte.

Impact Sampson was seen warming up with the team prior to Saturday's contest, but he was not able to make the field against the 49ers. The 6-foot-4 receiver has not played since Louisiana-Lafayette's season opener against Lamar due to a knee injury. His next chance to return will come against Arkansas State on Saturday.

Caden Jensen - Records sixth reception Jensen (undisclosed) logged a three-yard reception during Saturday's win at UNC Charlotte.

Impact Even though a one-reception game is not excellent for anybody, the fact that Jansen is back after sitting out multiple matchups bodes well for his October output. He played only one other time in September but flourished, catching all but one of six targets for 77 yards against non-FBS team Lamar. The question is whether Jensen can regularly replicate a similar output against the Sun Belt Conference's other programs. Last year, Jensen logged 29 catches for 231 yards and one touchdown, impressive stats that will be difficult to surpass, though far from impossible.

Trenton Chaney - Three receptions and one carry Chaney (shoulder) logged three receptions for 44 yards and a four-yard carry during Saturday's 34-7 victory versus Charlotte.

Impact In two games for Louisiana-Lafayette this season, Chaney has separately logged three receptions and a carry twice. For the 2026 campaign, he is up to 83 all-purpose yards, 78 receiving and five rushing. Chaney has already surpassed his 2025 output, so his next matter at hand is establishing a regular role for ULL now that his health should no longer be an ongoing problem.

Trenton Chaney - Active in warmups Chaney (shoulder) is present and going through warmups ahead of Saturday's game against UNC Charlotte, per Kevin Foote of The Baton Rouge Advocate.

Impact Chaney has missed two consecutive games but is in line to suit up Saturday given his presence during warmups. The wideout last played in the season opener, where he hauled in three receptions for 34 yards.
