Caden Veltkamp - On track to throw in spring game Veltkamp (shoulder) is on track to throw the football during Florida Atlantic's spring game, FAU Owls Nest reports.

Impact After undergoing shoulder surgery, Veltkamp is still recovering, but his health may no longer be an offseason concern should Florida Atlantic's spring game include him. The quarterback has until April 17 to recover, a three-plus-week timeline to get his shoulder right.

Easton Messer - Close to return Florida Atlantic's head coach Zach Kittley has announced that Messer (hamstring) is close to returning, FAU Owls Nest reports.

Impact A tight hamstring indicates why Messer's focus has been rehabbing. But following Kittley's update, perhaps the wide receiver can participate in Florida Atlantic's spring game, scheduled for April 17. In their 2025 season together, Messer established himself as one of the American Conference's top wideouts, so that will be what is expected of him during 2026.

Easton Messer - Rehabbing from injury Messer is rehabbing from an undisclosed injury, FAU Owls Nest reports.

Impact Florida Atlantic's wide receivers coach DJ McCarthy said Messer will return when fully healthy, which he does not appear to be at this point in spring camp. Ideally for the wideout, his undisclosed injury subsides by April 17, when FAU's spring camp is scheduled to end.

Caden Veltkamp - Will be limited during spring Veltkamp (shoulder) will be limited until the last two weeks of Florida Atlantic's spring practice, FAU Owls Nest reports.

Impact Veltkamp underwent shoulder surgery, which explains why he is limited as Florida Atlantic's team begins its spring practice. It ends on April 17, so he will spend all of March on the mend. Once the next month hits, Veltkamp is expected to make positive progress, though that does not ensure he becomes 100 percent before spring practice finishes.

Collin Rogers - Joins Owls Rogers is listed as a member of the Florida Atlantic roster heading into the 2026 season.

Impact Rogers will join the Owls following four years with SMU. The 6-foot-4 kicker appeared in just two games for the Mustangs in 2025, going 1-for-4 on field goal attempts while making all 12 of his extra point tries. He will retain a single year of eligibility with FAU.

Brooks Johnson - Transfers to Florida Atlantic Johnson will transfer to Florida Atlantic, the program announced.

Impact Johnson spent the past three seasons at Costal Carolina, and got involved in 2025 to the tune of 11 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. He'll likely have one more season of eligibility to use with the Owls.

This past fall, he tossed for 123 yards and one touchdown on 10-of-21 passing, while rushing for 25 yards on nine carries. Now, with three years of eligibility remaining, he'll take his talents to South Florida, where he'll look to win the starting quarterback gig.

Jahmari Powell-Wonson - On to Florida Atlantic Powell-Wonson announced his commitment to Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

Impact After limited stats for Maryland, Powell-Wonson will transfer to a non-Power conference team for more opportunities. During the Terrapins' 2025 season, he logged 14 receiving yards.

RJ Garcia II - Latches on with FAU Garcia has signed with FAU, the team announced.

Impact Garcia caught 27 of 46 targets for 283 yards during 2025 with Bowling Green. He had previously spent time with Kansas State. He'll look to etch out a significant role with the Owls in 2026.

Caden Veltkamp - Returning to Florida Atlantic Veltkamp is returning to Florida Atlantic for 2026, according to his X account.

Impact Having redshirted 2022, Veltkamp has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, and he will use its remainder with Florida Atlantic. Transferring from Western Kentucky to FAU did present some challenges for the quarterback, who set a career-high in interceptions with 17 in 2025. However, it is worth noting that Veltkamp threw more than 500 passes for the first time in his career, which also earned him career highs in completed passes (345) and passing yards (3,641). Perhaps with a season of American Conference football under his belt, Veltkamp can be much more reliable in 2026.

Asaad Waseem - Tallies 34 yards in loss to ECU Waseem compiled four receptions (on five targets) for 34 yards during Saturday's 42-3 defeat versus East Carolina.

Impact Waseem came back down to earth after combining for 23 receptions in the last two games, closing out his season with 699 receiving yards, good for third on the team. In his first real season of college football, the Colorado transfer also tallied five touchdowns and has a very bright future ahead of him.

Easton Messer - Cracks 1,000 yards against ECU Messer had 10 receptions (on 13 targets) for 86 yards during Saturday's 42-3 loss versus East Carolina.

Impact Despite the blowout loss, Messer surpassed the 1,000-yard mark, leading the Owls in yards and receptions as he has all season. The Western Kentucky transfer found a home at FAU, finishing his junior season with 1,052 yards, 104 receptions, and six touchdowns.

Jayshon Platt - Only 39 yards in finale Platt caught two of four targets for 39 yards during Saturday's 42-3 loss versus East Carolina.

Impact Platt tied a season low with only two receptions in Saturday's game. After only 38 yards a year ago, the junior broke out for 720 this season to finish second on the team behind Easton Messer. Platt also tallied five touchdowns.

Impact Veltkamp had arguably his worst outing of the season this weekend, throwing for a season-low 183 yards. The junior finished the year with six picks in the last three games, and Saturday was only the second time all year he didn't throw a touchdown pass. Veltkamp totaled 3,648 passing yards, 24 touchdown passes, and 17 interceptions in his first season as an Owl.
