Impact The nature of Thompson's injury is unclear, and it's hard to project whether he'll be available for the Tigers' first game of the season against UT-Chattanooga on Saturday, Aug. 30. If he's unable to play, then Christian Ross and Luke Logan would be the next in line to see snaps at tight end.

Impact The nature of Thompson's injury is unclear, but based on Dylan's words, it seems he didn't have a lot of time to practice in the spring, which is an issue considering he transferred to Memphis during the offseason. At this stage, it's unclear if he'll be available for the start of the 2025 season. The Tigers play their campaign-opener against UT-Chattanooga on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Brady Kluse - Could be Memphis' top receiver Kluse reportedly has a shot to be Memphis' top receiver in 2025, per Jonah Dylan of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Impact Kluse caught just five passes for 90 yards with the Tigers in 2024, but could be in line to be the number one receiver for Memphis this coming fall. In the spring game, he actually threw a 49-yard pass on a trick play. The 6-foot-2 rising junior should be set up for the biggest season of his career.

Arrington Maiden - Shines in spring game Maiden stood out at quarterback in Memphis' spring game, per Jonah Dylan of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Impact Maiden was the only Tigers' quarterback to throw a touchdown, and they were both reportedly spectacular plays -- one was a 40-yarder and one was a 60-yarder. He also seemed to display good command of the offense, repeatedly orchestrating long drives. He's competing with Brendon Lewis and AJ Hill for the starting gunslinger gig in Memphis, and this performance at the culmination of spring practice will be big for Maiden's pursuit of the job.

Impact Despite being limited, it's positive news for Smith after he suffered a season-ending leg injury in the team's first game of the season in 2024 against North Alabama. The 5-foot-9 junior was expected to lead the Memphis backfield heading into 2024 before going down with the injury and will likely be part of a committee with Greg Desrosiers heading into 2025. Smith ran for 305 yards and two touchdowns on 63 attempts as a reserve back in 2023, adding 17 catches for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air as well.

Impact Lewis is a well-traveled signal-caller, spending his first two seasons at Colorado before playing the last two at Nevada, where he posted 2,290 passing yards and a 16:7 TD:INT ratio last season, adding 157 carries for 775 yards and eight touchdowns as a runner. The senior signal-caller seemed the likely favorite to land the starting gig vacated by Seth Henigan's graduation, and indications are he's viewed as early leader.
