Impact Sides was initially expected to play, but the receiver has yet to appear for East Carolina and his hamstring issue still appears to be bothering him. ECU figures to rely on Jeremiah Melvin, Tyler Johnson and Ray Ray Joseph in his stead.

Brock Spalding - Out for Week 2 Spalding (back) is out for Saturday's game against Appalachian State, Donnell Coley of The Daily Reflector reports.

Impact For at least one more week, Spalding's 2026 season will be without a counting stat, making his quest to replicate his 2025 output much more difficult moving forward. Last season, he caught two-thirds of 63 targeted passes for 554 yards and three touchdowns.
