Weekend Watch List: Plenty of drama left in March for NBA, NHL

Published Mar. 20, 2015 11:00 a.m. ET

Fans of Florida teams may not have a rooting interest in the NCAA tournament this season, but there's plenty of drama taking place in March with our NBA and NHL teams.

Following a three-day break, the Tampa Bay Lighting enter one of their busiest stretches of the season with nine games over the next 16 days as they battle for the top seed in the Eastern Conference

With postseason hopes on the line for the Florida Panthers and only 11 games remaining, the Panthers look to make up ground this weekend with a pivotal matchup with the Boston Bruins.

On the court, the Miami Heat have shown major improvement in their push for playoffs. Dwyane Wade has scored at least 25 points in seven consecutive games, while helping Miami win six of their last seven games at home. But a four-game road trip awaits.

TWEET(S) OF THE WEEK

Inspired by the rare events that took place on March 3 after both Luongo and Al Montoya were injured, the Panthers kicked off their "Goal of a Lifetime" contest on Monday. Over 1,500 applications rolled in from fans who wished to be Florida's backup goalie for the day as alumni, current players, fans and media gathered at the BB&T Center earlier this week to see the tryouts go down.
