Debuting heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Jack May meet at FOX UFC Saturday in Orlando
A pair of heavyweight newcomers will debut against each other at FOX UFC Saturday in Orlando as Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis takes on undefeated prospect Jack May at the upcoming card on April 19.
UFC officials announced the new bout on Tuesday.
Derrick Lewis (9-2) comes to the UFC after spending most of his career fighting in the regional MMA circuit for notable promotions like Legacy Fighting Championships and Resurrection Fighting Alliance. Lewis has also faced some stiff competition during his time inside the cage including a knockout win over recent UFC signee Jared Rosholt.
Lewis knocked out Rosholt when the two heavyweights met in 2012 and that still stands as the only loss on the former wrestling standout’s record. Now Lewis will get his own shot in the Octagon as he jumps in a tough heavyweight division.
Jack My (7-0) will look to stop Lewis’ recent six fight unbeaten streak when he makes his debut in Orlando as well. At 32-years of age, May is a mature fighter with dynamite in his hands with six of his seven fights ending by knockout or TKO. He also trains at CSW where he works alongside some very tough fighters including former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett.
Lewis and May will face off on the upcoming Orlando card with the fight likely headed to the early prelims, although UFC officials have not made a bout order for the card as of yet.
