Wisconsin-Illinois pregame notes

Here are some notes, tidbits and stats heading for Saturday's game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Illinois Fighting Illini:

-- This is the 82nd meeting between Wisconsin and Illinois with the Badgers leading the all-time series 38-36-7. Wisconsin is 16-20-3 at Champaign.

-- Wisconsin has won five consecutive games against Illinois and nine of the last 10.

-- Under Paul Chryst this season, Wisconsin is 5-1 when scoring first, 0-1 when the opponent scores first, 4-1 when leading after the first quarter, 0-1 when trailing after the first quarter, 4-0 when leading at halftime, 1-2 when trailing at halftime, 4-0 when leading after the third quarter and 1-2 when trailing after the third quarter.

-- A Badgers tight end hasn't had a 100-yard receiving game since Lance Kendricks did it in back-to-back weeks in 2010 vs. Arizona State on Sept. 18 and Austin Peay on Sept. 25, a 71-game drought.

-- Wisconsin hasn't allowed a kick return of longer than 26 yards this season. Illinois' V'Angelo Bentley is averaging 24.6 yards per kick return this season on nine returns.

-- Illinois has played three Power 5 teams: North Carolina, Iowa and Nebraska. Those teams averaged 5.89 yards per rush vs. the Illini.

-- Wisconsin had had 26 100-yard rushers against Illinois including four over 200.

-- The Badgers have had nine 300-yard passers against Illinois, but only one over 300 (Tyler Donovan, 392). Stave, with 254 yards in 2012, is one of the nine.

-- Wisconsin has had 11 100-yard receivers against Illinois, but only three since 2000: Jared Abbrederis (2012), Travis Beckum (2007) and Lee Evas (2001).

-- Corey Clement needs 198 rushing yards to tie and 199 to pass Dave Mohapp for 20th place and 202 to tie and 203 to pass Larry Canada for 19th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Joel Stave can be the first Badgers quarterback since Randy Wright in 1983 to have three consecutive 300-yard passing games. Wright's, by the way, all came on the road at Ohio State, Iowa and Purdue. He then finished the season with a 259-yard game vs. Michigan State.

-- Stave had had 23 games in which he has thrown at least 19 passes. In those 23, he has thrown at least one interception in 17 of them.

-- Stave will be making his 36th start for Wisconsin, which will tie him for 4th place with John Stocco on UW's all-time starts at QB list.

-- With his next win, Stave will pass Darrell Bevell for fourth place and tie Mike Samuel for 3rd place on UW's all-time wins as a starting quarterback list (with 27).

-- Stave needs 2 passing touchdowns to tie and 3 to pass John Stocco for 2nd place on UW's all-time list.

-- Stave needs 37 pass attempts to tie and 38 to pass John Stocco for 2nd place on UW's all-time list.

-- Stave needs 27 completions to tie and 28 to pass Randy Wright (1982) for 10th place on UW's all-time single-season list.

-- Stave's next interception will tie and 2 will pass Tony Lowery and Randy Wright for 2nd place on UW's all-time interceptions list. Eight INTs will tie Darrell Bevell for the most in UW history. (Note: INTs since 1956, although doubtful anyone previous had more.)

-- Stave needs 49 passing yards to pass Mike Samuel (1996) for 18th place, 54 to pass Tony Lowery (1990) for 17th place, 55 to pass Brooks Bollinger (2002) for 16th place, 189 to pass Mike Samuel (1997) for 15th place and 292 to pass John Stocco (2004) for 14th place on UW's all-time single-season list.

-- Alex Erickson needs 12 receiving yards to pass David Charles for 14th place, 45 yards to pass Garrett Graham for 13th place and 128 yards to pass Donald Hayes for 12th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Joe Schobert needs 2.5 tackles for loss to tie Tim Jordan, O'Brien Schofield and Nick Greisen for 14th and 3.5 to tie Gary Casper for 13th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Schobert needs 1.5 sacks to tie DeAndre Levy for 15th place and 2 to tie Matt Shaughnessy for 11th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Schobert needs .5 sacks to tie Bryan Jurewicz (1996) and Mike Thompson (1993) for 7th place, 1.5 to tie Tim Jordan (1985) and Darryl Sims (1982) for 5th place and 2.5 to tie Tarek Saleh (1995) and O'Brien Schofield (2009) for 3rd place on UW's all-time single-season list.

-- Schobert needs 1 forced fumble to tie and 2 to pass Erasmus James for 2nd place on UW's all-time list.

-- Schobert needs 1 forced fumble to tie and 2 to pass Chris Borland (2009 & 2011) for 1st place on UW's all-time single-season list.

-- Vince Biegel needs .5 sacks to tie Brendan Kelly for 14th place and 1 to tie and 1.5 to pass Jonathan Welsh and Joe Schobert (pending) for 13th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Rafael Gaglianone needs 1 field goal to pass John Hall and Vitaly Pisetsky for 7th place, and 4 to tie Matt Davenport for 6th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs 1 field-goal attempts to Vince Lamia for 8th place, and 4 to tie Vitaly Pisetsky for 7th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs 4 extra points to tie and 5 to pass Todd Gregoire for 7th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs 1 extra-point attempt to pass Vitaly Piesetsky for 8th place and 5 to tie Todd Gregoire for 7th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs one more 50+-yard field goal to join Taylor Mehlhaff and Philip Welch as the only to have three FGs from 50+ in Wisconsin history (Mehlhaff 52, 51, 51; Welch 57, 52, 50; Gaglianone 51, 50).
