Forever 21? Browns quarterback jersey mannequin gets Manziel update

Published Dec. 9, 2014 1:35 p.m. ET

Rookie Johnny Manziel will be the Cleveland Browns' 21st starting quarterback since 1999, according to FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, and the name of the Browns QB has now been added to a downtown Cleveland institution.

Through the Browns' endless QB controversies and shakeups in recent years, Brokaw, an ad agency a couple of blocks away from FirstEnergy Stadium, has kept updating the No. 2 jersey of Tim Couch, the former No. 1 overall pick who was the first selection of the Browns' expansion era in 1999.

The list has gotten longer and longer through the years, now down all the way past the knee of the mannequin with a new name -- and hope -- for Cleveland's faithful.

Fans in Cleveland certainly hope Manziel, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, brings some holiday cheer -- and a touchdown or two -- in his first start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

No Browns signal caller since Couch has worn the No. 2, so maybe, just maybe, this is the jersey mannequin and Cleveland quarterback carousel coming full circle from the first No. 2 (Couch) to the Browns' current No. 2 (Manziel).
