Mets pitcher Matt Harvey receives hero's welcome at Rangers game
The Mets are in the World Series for the first time since 2000, and the entire city of New York is abuzz with excitement. That much was evident during Thursday night's Rangers-Coyotes game, as Mets pitcher Matt Harvey decided to celebrate the NLCS Championship with a trip to Madison Square Garden and received a hero's welcome from the Rangers' faithful.
The Rangers showed highlights of the Mets' NLCS Championship midway through the second period of Thursday's game, then introduced Matt Harvey, who was sitting behind the Rangers' bench. The crowd went wild for the pitcher.
It's a far cry from how New Yorkers responded to Harvey back in 2013, when the pitcher took to the streets to interview random fans about what they thought of Matt Harvey. None of them realized they were talking to the very person whom they were being asked about.
It's amazing what a few postseason victories can do for a man's popularity.
