Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin ready to prove doubters wrong
Doug Martin doesn't want to hear about his 2012 season when he amassed 1,926 yards from scrimmage. Instead, Martin is focused on the "what have you done for me lately" motto. As Ira Kaufman of The Tampa Tribune explains, Martin believes 2015 is going to be his season to excel.
“This league is about what have you done for me lately,’’ said Martin, who averaged 4.6 yards per carry during a glorious rookie season, but 3.6 per carry in the two seasons since. “I’ve dealt with some adversity with the torn labrum (in 2013), and I think this year is going to be the year.’’
“I can’t wait to show the world I can be the Doug Martin I was in 2012,’’ he said. ”I’m going to go out, play my hardest, try to be as consistent as I can and hopefully turn the doubters into believers.’’
Martin is simply tired of the doubters. He knows what he's capable of, and heading into a contract year, you can bet that he's ready to silence those doubters. While Martin is expected to get plenty of work this season, don't be surprised if you see the former Boise State product take over in Tampa Bay's backfield.
