NFC East Roundup: Division Really Up For Grabs Following Week 4
The NFC East race is pretty tight after four weeks of action. Is anyone a clear cut favorite at this point?
The NFC East has gone from having a clear favorite to once again being completely unpredictable. After a week that saw three teams play and one team have a bye, the division is caught up in as big of a logjam as ever. Two teams in the division have two wins while the others have three. This is shaping up to be a solid division race, and any team could end up taking the crown.

The Dallas Cowboys have probably been the most surprising team to date. After losing Tony Romo in the preseason, it was widely considered that the team may struggle with rookie Dak Prescott at the helm. Instead, they have excelled. Prescott and the running of Ezekiel Elliott helped lead the Cowboys to a seven point victory over the 49ers on Sunday. It was not their most convincing win, but considering that they did not have Dez Bryant, it was a solid overall performance.
The Cowboys should only get better as the season progresses. They will be getting numerous players back from injuries and suspensions as the year continues, and Prescott will continue to get important experience. Romo may end up being his backup when the veteran returns from his injury.

The New York Giants have not been as impressive over the past couple of weeks. After falling in a closely contested game to the Washington Redskins, they lost again to the stalwart Minnesota Vikings. The team’s offense just looks out of sorts, and it may take them awhile to be in good shape. On defense, the team needs to improve the play in the middle of the unit. They have the personnel to shut down receivers and slow the interior running game, but they have not done it yet. The Giants should improve over the season, but a .500 finish is looking possible.
The Redskins were the final team in action this past week. They were finally able to get their ground game going and take down the Cleveland Browns. If they can continue to run a balanced game plan, then they should have a chance to win most weeks. However, their run defense is still a major weakness and that will stop them from being a true contender this season.
The Philadelphia Eagles were on bye this past week. They are still undefeated at 3-0. It will be fun to see what Carson Wentz can do over the rest of the season. The Eagles may still be the slight favorite, but it is too early to call them a real contender.
