Will Kobe pull a Jordan and un-retire? Ex-teammate: 'You never know'
If anyone knows what it's like to leave the NBA for years and then make an unexpected return, it's Sasha Vujacic. And if anyone knows that trait along with knowing Kobe Bryant, it's ... well, that one is Vujacic, too.
So, after the Lakers legend (Bryant, not Sasha Vujacic) announced his official retirement on the Players' Tribune on Sunday evening, Vujacic, who's now with the Knicks, had some comments on his ex-teammate's pending fade into basketball darkness. And they're a little more outside the box than you might expect.
From Howie Kussoy of the New York Post:
“He’ll be bored with retirement, so he might come back,” Vujacic said following the Knicks’ 116-111 overtime loss to the Rockets on Sunday night. “You never know … He can always come back.”
Bryant has been disappointing during his final NBA season, shooting just 30 percent from the field and 20 percent from three. But if there's one person who can relate to those figures, it's—you guessed it—Sasha Vujacic, who's shooting 27 percent from the field and 15 percent from three.
Maybe players out of the NBA are best off staying right where they are.
