Warriors' Barnes out for at least one more week
Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes will miss the rest of the team's road trip and then be re-evaluated next Sunday, Dec. 13, the team announced on Sunday.
Barnes has been out since Nov. 27 with a sprained left ankle he sustained against the Phoenix Suns. By next Sunday, he will have missed eight games -- including the upcoming games Tuesday at Indiana, Friday at Boston and Saturday at Milwaukee -- over the course of two weeks.
Barnes is now walking without crutches and participating in some shooting drills, according to Inside Bay Area, so some progress has been made at least.
"His limp is getting less, so we'll take it," Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said Friday, according to Inside Bay Area. "What the (medical staff) told us is it's kind of a week-to-week instead of day-to-day thing."
The Warriors have clearly been fine without Barnes, but they certainly miss his positional flexibility, deadeye spot-up shooting and defensive versatility.
Brandon Rush is starting in Barnes' place, averaging 7.6 points and shooting 66.7 percent on three-pointers as a starter. Shaun Livingston has also taken on a larger role, but he's not big or strong enough to play power forward in the Dubs' infamous small-ball unit.
