Wade leads rally, Heat beat Grizzlies 100-97

Published Dec. 13, 2015 8:47 p.m. ET

MIAMI (AP) Dwyane Wade's jumper bounced off the rim, high into the air, and then fell softly through the net.

Just like that, a rough week for the Miami Heat ended on a much-needed high note.

Chris Bosh scored 22 points, Gerald Green added 16 and Wade's jumper with 21.9 seconds left gave Miami its first - and only - lead of the second half as the Heat rallied for a 100-97 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night and snapped a three-game slide.

Luol Deng scored 15 for Miami, which outscored Memphis 11-0 in the final 2:34. Wade's go-ahead jumper came from the left elbow, and he then guarded Mike Conley on the ensuing Memphis possession that ended in a turnover. Justise Winslow made two free throws in the final second to clinch the win for Miami, which reached the 100-point mark for just the second time in its last 11 games.

Jeff Green scored a season-high 26 points for Memphis, while surprise starter Matt Barnes finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Mario Chalmers, playing against Miami as an opponent for the first time since being traded to Memphis last month, finished with 12 for the Grizzlies - including a three-point play midway through the fourth to put his team up 89-79.

The Grizzlies changed their lineup shortly before game time, ruling Tony Allen - who was originally listed as a starter - out with a right knee injury and inserting Barnes into the starting five to replace Zach Randolph. It was the first time Randolph played as a reserve since March 23, 2013. Randolph and Marc Gasol each had 12 points for Memphis, which led 75-59 late in the third and was still up 10 after a three-point play by Chalmers midway through the fourth.

But Barnes fouled Gerald Green on a 3-pointer with 1:32 left, Green made all three free throws to get Miami within three and Wade scored on a drive on the next Heat possession.

Wade's next shot put Miami up for good.

CHALMERS RETURNS

Chalmers spent his first seven full NBA seasons with the Heat and was the starting point guard on the teams that won the 2012 and 2013 NBA championships. He received a pair of warm ovations from the crowd. As the Heat did for LeBron James last year, Chalmers' Miami highlight moments were put together in a tribute video shown on screens in the arena during a first-quarter stoppage in play.
