It's only the preseason, but Boston Celtics rookie R.J. Hunter already looks like he's going to have a very long career. The 6'5" wing has showed an ability to shoot, score, pass and defend (both on and off the ball).

It's highly impressive, and could land him a spot in Boston's rotation on opening night. Here's what Celtics head coach Brad Stevens had to say about Hunter's development thus far, per Celtics.com:

Hunter is averaging 5.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds in the preseason. That's from four games and a little over 20 minutes per contest. But more important than numbers are how mature he looks on the floor.

Hunter doesn't make rookie mistakes. He's intelligent, knows his spots and plays extremely hard on every possession. The Celtics might have found their starting shooting guard of the future.

“He was not a well-established, highly-ranked prospect as a 16 or 17-year-old high school [athlete]. He was a guy that was trying to figure out how to be at that level. He was really thin, even compared to now, and he was really passive...I think he’s figuring out his spots on offense. Defensively he has some really good moments. He’s way ahead of where I thought he would be, but I think that he could still go a long way.”
