The Charlotte Hornets Win Again! Defeat Nets 99-95
The Charlotte Hornets grabbed their second straight win as they beat the Brooklyn Nets to improve to an impressive 4-1 record on the season.
The Charlotte Hornets won again tonight. As usual, they do so behind the efforts of their captain Kemba Walker. Kemba paced the Hornets with 30 points and six rebounds. The win was an important one as it gave Charlotte sole first place in the south eastern division. Despite a slow start the team was able to fight back to an impressive win.
As previously stated the team started off slowly again. This seems to be becoming a disturbing trend. Early on the hornets fell behind by thirteen. Only three hornets scored in the first quarter. Nicolas Batum and Captain Quick (Kemba) each had 11.
Ramon Sessions scored one. Cody Zeller got into early foul trouble trying to contend with the impressive low-post scoring of Brook Lopez. He would rebound though to have a decent game. He finished with 10 points six rebounds and six assists.
More from Swarm and Sting
Then the Hornets did what they usually do. They came back. Good defense and team basketball got them back in the game. Kemba took to charges in one-quarter. Nic chipped in with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist provided his usual double-digit rebounding effort with 10. Marvin Williams was solid as usual, and gave the team a couple timely threes, and timely rebounds.
The bench brigade came in and was solid. All though he didn’t make it to double figures, Frank Kaminsky scored eight points including two threes. Ramon Sessions gave his usual solid performance in relief of Kemba.
He scored six points and dished out four assists. Marco Belinelli had a few struggles tonight. He only converted on one of his six shot attempts, also missing two three-point attempts. The hero of the bench brigade was Spencer Hawes. He led the bench with 13 points.
Player of the Game:
Kemba Walker: He was easily the best player out on the court for either team in this one. His season-high of 30 points was exactly what Charlotte needed to get a victory in this one. He has become one of the better point guards in all the NBA. Walker’s stock continues to rise with his outstanding play.
All in all despite the slow start the Hornets played well. They got the win and with the loss of Atlanta tonight to Washington the Hornets stand alone atop the southeastern conference. Not too shabby guys. Not shabby at all.
