Shawn Marion says he's retiring after 16 seasons

After failing to log any playing time in the NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Shawn Marion is prepared to retire, according to a report from

Marion has played in the NBA for 16 seasons. The 37-year-old was a four-time All-Star during his time with the Phoenix Suns, where he was an integral part of the infamous "Seven Seconds or Less" teams. Marion also won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and could very well end up in the Hall of Fame.

Four-time NBA All-Star Shawn Marion told via text message Thursday that he intends to go through with his plans to retire after completing his 16th season. 

"Hell yeah," Marion said.

The 37-year-old went unused by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the just-completed NBA Finals in his only season with the Cavs, but assembled an outstanding career highlighted by a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.
