Shawn Marion says he's retiring after 16 seasons
After failing to log any playing time in the NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Shawn Marion is prepared to retire, according to a report from ESPN.com.
Marion has played in the NBA for 16 seasons. The 37-year-old was a four-time All-Star during his time with the Phoenix Suns, where he was an integral part of the infamous "Seven Seconds or Less" teams. Marion also won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and could very well end up in the Hall of Fame.
Here's more from Marc Stein at ESPN.com:
Four-time NBA All-Star Shawn Marion told ESPN.com via text message Thursday that he intends to go through with his plans to retire after completing his 16th season.
"Hell yeah," Marion said.
The 37-year-old went unused by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the just-completed NBA Finals in his only season with the Cavs, but assembled an outstanding career highlighted by a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.
