Reports: Cavs get Jamison in 3-way trade
LeBron James has a new sidekick in his quest for an NBA title.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have completed a three-team trade that sends Antawn Jamison to Cleveland, according to multiple reports.
Under terms of the deal between the Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards, Jamison and Sebastian Telfair will go to Cleveland; Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Al Thornton, Brian Skinner and the Cavs' first-round pick to Washington; and Drew Gooden to Los Angeles.
The key to the deal is the 6-9, 235-pound Jamison, a two-time All-Star who is averaging 20.5 points and 8.8 rebounds this season for the Wizards.
At 33, Jamison is in the second year of a four-year, $50 million contract.
The Cavaliers also reportedly pursued Suns center Amar'e Stoudemire, but Stoudemire now may go to Miami if Phoenix decides to trade him.
The deal allows the Clippers to shed next season's guaranteed contracts belonging to Thornton ($2.8 million) and Telfair ($2.7 million), giving them cap room to pursue a marquee free agent this summer.
