Report: The Knicks cut the players you'd expect them to cut

The Knicks preseason is now over after they lost Thursday night in Boston, and that means Friday brought on some expected moves.

From Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:

The biggest name here is probably Antetokounmpo, and that's not just because his brother, Giannis, is a budding star in Milwaukee. Of the five players released by New York, Thanasis is the only one the Knicks actually drafted.

Phil Jackson and Co. selected Antetokounmpo with the 21st pick of the second round in 2014. He didn't even see time on the roster last year, instead running with the Westchester Knicks of the D-League. He barely played in the preseason, as is true for the remaining players New York cut, as well.

New York had to get its roster down to to the league-required 15 players by the start of the regular season. The Knicks open up their schedule Wednesday evening at the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo, Atkins, Summers, Trice and Saunders were all on partially or non-guaranteed deals.
