Report: Knicks' Williams robbed of $750k in jewelry by two women

If you had three-quarters of a million dollars worth of property stolen from you, how long do you think it would take for you to notice? A few minutes? An hour? It's a question most people probably haven't considered. Unfortunately for New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams, he now knows the answer. Over the weekend, Williams was reportedly robbed of $750,000 in jewelry, according to the New York Post.

The report states that Williams blames the theft on two women he met at a New York City club. After the Knicks' Friday night victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Williams and friends spent part of their night at the Up & Down club before heading back to Williams' apartment:

The Post reports police are investigating the possibility that the robbery is part of a larger pattern of similar crimes.

According to Basketball-Reference, Williams had earned $20,898,924 in his career headed into the 2015-16 season, in which he'll be paid $4,900,000. That puts the value of the jewelry in question at roughly equal to 3.6 percent of Williams' career earnings from basketball as of the end of last season. It's also about as much as Stephen Curry makes in a little less than 5.5 games, or 2.5 games for Kobe Bryant, for comparison's sake.

Williams is in his fifth season and with his third team. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2011 and traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2013. He's averaged 7.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game for the Knicks in 2015-16 after signing as a free agent in New York this offseason.

The good news for Williams, if there is any, is that there wasn't any violence involved. Outside of that, we wish him the best of luck in resolving this matter.

But not before the two party girls found the Louis Vuitton case stuffed with three-quarters of a million dollars worth of jewelry in one of Williams’ closets.

The fast-fingered females grabbed the contents, and took off, the sources said.

Williams checked the case at about 4 p.m. Saturday.
