Report: Kerr leaning toward Knicks, staying with TNT through playoffs

TNT broadcaster Steve Kerr is said to be leaning toward taking the New York Knicks' head coaching job but is awaiting a formal contract offer, the New York Post reports.

Kerr, who also is said to be considering the Golden State Warriors job, will remain as a broadcaster through the rest of TNT's playoff run, the report said. The network's schedule ends with the conference finals.

The New York Daily News reports that Kerr will make his decision no later than Monday.

The Knicks appear to be the leaders for Kerr's services because of Kerr's relationship with Knicks president Phil Jackson. However, the Knicks may not be as ready-made for success as Golden State is, given the Warriors won 51 games and New York missed the playoffs. Kerr also has multiple personal relationships with members of Golden State's brass, including owner Joe Lacob.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Lacob could choose his next coach anytime in the next day or next two months. The timeline could be sped up if the Warriors want to land Kerr, given that he is being highly sought by the Knicks, if not other teams, too.
