Report: Anthony Davis' next contract will exceed $140 million
Anthony Davis is the definition of a "max" player. He deserves as much money as the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement allows, and then some.
New Orleans knows this more than anyone, and, according to ESPN's Marc Stein, they plan to give Davis exactly what his play warrants.
"Pelicans officials plan to be aggressive as possible in presenting him with a maximum five-year deal that could exceed $140 million, according to league sources. The exact figures will depend on how much the NBA salary cap actually rises in 2016, but sources told ESPN.com that the Pelicans indeed intend to present Davis with the biggest offer they can once the window for negotiations opens July 1."
It's been known for quite some time that Davis would get a max deal, but the dollar amount here is staggering. He's worth every penny.
